This is a selection of SAMOAN PULETASI. These are custom-made to a customer's measurements (bust, waist, hips and length).The fabric is non-wrinkle linen/polyester. The Puletasi Top has a back zipper and a choice of cap sleeves or no sleeves. The 'skirt' is a wrap-around with tie at the waist. This fabric comes in many colors and the hand-painted designs on each Puletasi are unique and all different.

SAMOAN FABRIC for a PULETASI or Samoan LAVALAVA (Sarong) or SHIRTS - Most Samoan men and ladies have their clothing custom-made by local sewers or relatives because of the difficulty of buying manufactured clothing for themselves that fits properly.
Fabric here in Samoa is sold either in 36" width or 42"-44" width. The higher quality fabrics such as the 'border' fabric below is 44" wide only. The 'border' fabric is widely used here in Samoa and comes in many colors with the borders being in geometric designs (like tapa), flowers (hibiscus) or Samoan traditional motifs. This fabric quite often has 'Samoa' along the border. It is cotton65%/poly35% blend which is cool and does not wrinkle so much in the humid climate here.

COCONUT SHELL BUTTONS for Puletasi and Shirts. These items are made by Samoan coconut jewelry crafters so they are very finely crafted. If you are looking for more elaborate or specific carved coconut shell docorations for clothing, bags, shoes or whatever, I suggest that you look on my Earring webpages as many of the earrings on those pages can be made into buttons or buckles by the same crafters so you can use your imagination to order something unique.
