UATOGI ON SALE
This 24" club is a Rare and very finely carved/finished/detailed Traditional
Samoan Toothed War Club called a UATOGI or LAPALAPA (in the Samoan language).
This club is very authentic in design and was made by the same senior Samoan
carver. It is beautifully carved with the old traditionally intricate Samoan
designs. These designs are very detained and small.
This club is made from the now very rare hardwood BAU WOOD which
is presently only surviving in a small area on the west end of Savaii Island.
It is a very hard, heavy and smooth-finished wood that has a slight reddish
color. In Olden Times, it is said that only the High Chief's war clubs were
made of Bau Wood. This club is 27".
